The article describes the peculiarities of shaping the traditions of organ music making in Podillya region. The author studies special features of liturgy organ concerts. She considers organ music festivals to be a significant factor for the formation and development of organ playing culture. In 1985–1990 there was Organ and Chamber Music Hall where the first organ concerts took place in Vinnytsia. Professor A. Kotlyarevskyi was one of the founder of Vinnytsia organ school. He was the first to introduce organ concert program. There are no many investigations on the organ music characteristics in Podillya region. We could find some records on the history of the instrument which was located in the Organ and Chamber Music Hall made by T. Burdeina-Publicа and Honored Artist of Ukraine, artistic director of chamber ensemble H. Kurkov. Nowadays the traditions of organ music making is spreading not only in Vinnytsia region (ex. Hnyvan) but in other regions as well, for instance, Letychiv (Khmelnytskyi region). Kamianets-Podilskyi and Khmelnytskyi. Therefore, the topic needs being investigated further more. Thus, the author aims at defining special features of organ music traditions in Podillya area. Traditionally there were two approaches: religious and secular to playing organ music. Church organs are still functioning in such cities and town like Khmilnyk, Shargorod, Bar and village Murafa, Shargorod district (Vinnytsia region) and Mukariv-Pidlisnyi (Khmelnytskyi district). Organ is used as a liturgical and concert instrument in the temples of Kamianets-Podilskyi, Polonnе, Letychiv (Khmelnytskyi region) and Vinnytsia. From 1978 to 1990 the organ instrument in Kamianets-Podilskyi was for playing concerts. It was very important for concert town life as there was neither philarmony nor Organ Hall there. Vinnytsia concert organ, located in Roman catholic church of Blessed Virgin Mary of Angels, is considered to be both liturgical and concert instrument. As the church had very good acoustics and the instrument itself had great technical features there was an initiative of the representatives of franciscan order to use the organ not only to accompany liturgy. Till 2015 there had been 17 international festivals “Music in the monastery walls” in which musicians from many Ukrainian regions and Lithuania, Latvia, Russia, Belarus, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Germany, Austria, Great Britain, France, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, the United States of America took part. As a conclusion we can state that organ music became popular in religious and secular lives due to the activities of church institutions.
